Venlafaxine
Venlafaxine, sold under the brand name Effexor, is an antidepressant medication belonging to the class of serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). It works by increasing the levels of serotonin and norepinephrine, neurotransmitters in the brain that play a role in regulating mood. Venlafaxine is commonly prescribed to treat major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and social anxiety disorder. It may also be used off-label for other conditions. Side effects can include nausea, headache, dizziness, insomnia, and sexual dysfunction. Withdrawal symptoms may occur if the medication is stopped abruptly, so it's important to taper off gradually under medical supervision.
