Multinodular and vacuolating neuronal tumor (MVNT)
Multinodular and vacuolating neuronal tumor (MVNT) is a rare, benign brain tumor that was first identified in 2013. It typically affects adults and is characterized by multiple nodules within the cerebral cortex. These nodules consist of vacuolated neurons, which are nerve cells filled with empty spaces or vacuoles. MVNTs are often incidental findings on brain imaging scans and are usually asymptomatic. However, in some cases, they can cause seizures or other neurological symptoms. Due to their benign nature, surgical resection is usually curative, and they have a favorable prognosis with a low recurrence rate.
